We are seeking a Design Strategist, Denver/Boulder who is a talented program designer, facilitator, and relationship builder, to run our best-in-class teen social entrepreneurship program (PresenTense Colorado-UpStart Teen Fellowship). As a member of a small, regional, and multidisciplinary team, you will manage a program that successfully engages and inspires Jewish teens, drawing from best practices in entrepreneurship, business strategy, and nonprofit leadership. You will also support our regional Innovation Lead to grow our portfolio of offerings for innovative leaders in the community.
The UpStart Design Strategist, Denver/Boulder is a full-time exempt position, and reporting to the Innovation Lead, Denver/Boulder. The role focuses on programming for teens (80%), local innovators (10%), and the wider community & field (10%).
Overview of Responsibilities

PresenTense Colorado-UpStart Teen Fellowship (80%)
Lead the design, execution, and administration of our successful teen social entrepreneurship program, empowering Teen Fellows to create social impact projects that engage their peers, program alumni, and the local community. Spearhead curriculum design and delivery of the program’s core seminars, Fellow programming, and a culminating community showcase event. Recruit and manage an effective team of volunteers, including Coaches and the Student Advisory Board. Coordinate with UpStart’s Marketing department to develop a compelling brand and a comprehensive content calendar to promote the program year-round. Build the teen program into a community catalyst that fosters deeper engagement with Jewish life, social justice, and innovation throughout the Jewish community.
Programming for local innovators (10%):
Partner with Upstart’s Innovation Lead, Denver/Boulder to coordinate and facilitate programming for local entrepreneurs and “intrapreneurs” (those leading change efforts from within established institutions). Engage regional social entrepreneurs in relevant programming, providing them with the tools, network, and resources to transform their visions into successful, scalable Jewish social ventures. Work with key partners to design and implement innovation consulting services aligned with programmatic goals and develop future potential work within the Denver/Boulder region. Key initiatives include facilitating Workshops and Fellowships to help Jewish entrepreneurial leaders expand their capacity for “out of the box” thinking.
Programming for Community & the Field (10%):
Design and manage opportunities to engage the Denver/Boulder community in innovative learning opportunities. Support a regional hub engagement plan for entrepreneurial leaders participating in UpStart’s local and national programs via convenings, workshops, showcase events, and networking opportunities. Skills and attributes required:
You will have at least 3 years of work experience, and a passion for creating new access points to Jewish life. You have excellent communication skills, and exhibit a high degree of professionalism, time management skills, and emotional intelligence.
You will have honed your skills in program design and facilitation, non-profit leadership, and project management, and ideally bring experience working with teens. We hope that you have a passion for entrepreneurial leadership and know (or are open to learning) practices such as design thinking.
We expect that you will be a team player who not only loves to imagine with others, but also hunkers down and make those ideas a reality. You have access to Jewish networks, and have (or can quickly gain) an understanding of the Denver/Boulder Jewish ecosystem.
