Jim Offel

Before transitioning to the nonprofit sector, Jim spent over two decades as a publishing executive most recently as SVP and General Manager of DCP/Diablo Publications.

In 2010 Jim was recruited to serve as COO at the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund of San Francisco (JCF) where he played a significant role in the reorganization of the financial, grant-making, information technology and development functions and co-led a strategic planning effort. In 2014, Jim was asked to step in as Interim Chief Executive Officer leading a staff of 125 and responsible for an organizational budget of $40 million and charitable assets of $1.8 billion. In 2015, Jim was recruited to serve as the Interim Executive Director of Congregation Beth El in Berkeley where operations include a 900+ camper summer Jewish day camp program, a sixty-child preschool, and an after-school supplemental Jewish education program for 260 school-age children.

Volunteer and board experience in the nonprofit sector include serving as a tutor for the Writer Coach Connection in the Berkeley Schools, a motivational speaker for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and board stints with Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide, Child & Family Therapy Center of Contra Costa County, Congregation Beth El, and the East Bay Agency for Children. Jim holds a Bachelor’s degree and a California State multi-subject teaching credential from the University of California at Santa Cruz, has completed CTI’s Co-Active Coaching program where he is currently pursuing Coaching certification and is a charter member of the National Association of Accredited Interim Executive Directors.
