Alison Laichter is a consultant, facilitator, meditation teacher, urban planner, community organizer, and former Brooklynite, now based in southern California. She founded and directed the Jewish Meditation Center (JMC) in NYC, creating the first ever grassroots and community-led Jewish Meditation Center. At the JMC, Alison directed all aspects of the organization, earning a spot in Slingshot’s 50 Most Innovative Jewish Nonprofits in North America three years in a row. She was a recipient of the Joshua Venture Group Dual Investment Fellowship for social entrepreneurs and was named one of the Jewish Week’s “36 Under 36: Visionaries for a New Era.” Alison has her Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from The Cooper Union and her Master of Science in Urban Planning from Columbia University. In her consulting practice, Alison works with organizations and communities to create and lead workshops and classes, conferences and unconferences and meetings, professional development trainings, community building and strategic planning, and other inspiring projects. Her recent work has been with the Jewish Funders Network, Hillel International, Jim Joseph Foundation, Skirball Cultural Center, Asylum Arts, OneTable, Fleet Science Center, Chopra Center for Wellbeing, Leichtag Foundation, Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, Jewish Initiative for Animals, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. Alison is an international leader of Jewish spiritual practice, meeting and retreat facilitation, and she loves working with communities and organizations to create inclusive, accessible, and radically amazing experiences.
