Rabbi Rigoberto Emmanuel (Manny) Viñas was born in Miami, Florida to Cuban Refugees from the Castro Revolution. His family returned to Judaism in Miami Florida, after realizing that they were of Jewish ancestry, (Anusim/Marranos) specifically from the Spanish and Portuguese Jews that were forcibly converted to Catholicism during the Inquisition. Many of the family’s customs were in fact Jewish customs and beliefs handed down from generation to generation. Viñas is an ordained Sephardic Rabbi and scribe, a Masters level Social Worker, a father and a grandfather. He is the founder and Director of El Centro de Estudios Judios Torat Emet an international organization dedicated to the return of the Anusim to Jewish life via outreach in Spanish and Portuguese, through education and return/conversion assistance and through the creation of communities all over the world in support of this mission.
