Now launching Innovation Workshops in Los Angeles!
Building on UpStart’s successful Innovator’s Toolkit workshops in the Bay Area and Chicago, we are excited to bring our no-cost, experiential learning opportunities to Los Angeles this May.
Innovator’s Toolkit workshops bring together a community of Jewish professionals and volunteer leaders for a hands-on, collaborative learning experience focused on integrating the best of the business, entrepreneurship, and Jewish non-profit worlds. These workshops are open to the community, whether you’re looking for new ways to reimagine Jewish or are seeking more opportunities for professional development.
What do the people you serve want?
In our inaugural Innovator’s Toolkit workshop in Southern California, we’ll introduce the broad framework of human-centered design, explore the power of empathy for driving program development, and develop concrete tools for identifying and articulating the unique value you provide your participants.
Whether you are active in the Jewish community as a paid professional or a volunteer, you will come away with tangible ideas to test in your community.
Tuesday May 16, 9:30am -12:30pm or 3:30pm – 6:30pm
WeWork La Brea: 925 N La Brea Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90038

Los Angeles Federation Teen Program Accelerator
The Los Angeles Jewish Teen Initiative, launched by the Los Angeles Jewish Federation and co-funded by the Jim Joseph Foundation, asks the question: How might we engage thousands more teens in meaningful Jewish experiences?
The Federation hired UpStart to power the Los Angeles Federation Teen Program Accelerator, a two-year series of workshops, retreats, and coaching sessions to guide local organizations in launching teen programs that bring new and unique value to Jewish teens. UpStart is teaching the eight Accelerator organizations how to use proven theories and practices from the for-profit innovation sector to increase their impact.
Accelerator participating organizations include:
Stephen S. Wise Freedom School, Shalom Institute’s Tiyul and Sherut L’Olam Programs, JQ International, Kibbutz Bob Waldorf on the Max Straus Campus, Moving Traditions, WJCC Maccabi Games.
