Bringing to light
A vibrant, community-oriented network that supports innovative Jewish leaders and entrepreneurs
The basics
Allison comes to UpStart with a professional background in theatre. Having worked at many performing arts institutions, she brings with her a passion for collaboration, inclusion, and finding the humor in any situation. Her work as a literary manager and dramaturg has centered around phenomenology: the study of the human experience of observed events like performances or religious gatherings.
Allison hails from Beachwood, OH and attended Knox College in Galesburg, IL where she majored in Theatre and minored in Religious Studies. She credits her liberal arts education for highlighting the infinite ways in which differing disciplines overlap and strengthen one another. Throughout her young adult life, Allison actively participated in her Jewish community through youth group and sleep-away camp and most recently has bridged the gap between her two areas of study by volunteering for dramaturgy and Jewish theatre conferences. Allison currently resides in Chicago.
How Allison finds meaning and comes together with others
Allison finds community in the gathering: whether for dinners, game nights, or movies. She’s made it her mission to ensure her friends are well-fed. According to Allison, the best ways to bond are through eating and singing together and she would love for you to join her for a meal, maybe a drink (or two), and karaoke.
