The basics

Lauren believes in pursuing equity and justice by serving and leading authentically, always promoting self-awareness and our deepest humanity. She has an extensive background in nonprofit development and loves to connect philanthropists with organizations that are making the positive social change they would like to see in the world. Prior to Upstart, Lauren worked in fundraising across diverse areas, including a women’s homeless agency on Skid Row, an endurance sports company, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Lauren also served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon for two years, where she lived in a rural village and taught entrepreneurship.

How Lauren finds meaning and comes together with others

An outdoor enthusiast, Lauren feels most alive when she is hiking in the redwoods, riding her bike along the coast, and exploring new neighborhoods. She and her partner love hosting Shabbat dinners and brunches in Oakland, CA, where they connect, listen to people’s stories, and cook nourishing meals.
